Frequently Asked Dumpster Bin Rental Questions
-
A roll off bin is an open topped garbage dumpster that rolls on and off of the back of the truck for strategic placement in close proximity to the work/project site. It is large steel container for temporary use to store and haul away waste material from renovation, demolition, new builds, landscaping, big clean-ups and paving, resurfacing or concrete removal projects.
IWS has a small to large light duty bins, including 14 yard, 16 yard, 30 yard, and 40 yard, for construction, landscaping and general waste materials. For heavy duty waste material removal, such as concrete, asphalt, gravel, sand and other aggregates, IWS has 10 yard and 11 yard bins heavy duty bins.
Our roll off dumpster bins have low side walls for easy loading, low overhead clearance capability and can be delivered into sloped, tight spaces.

Any renovation, new build, demolition, or landscaping project will produce a significant amount of waste material. Even small jobs, such as single room renovations or an attic cleanup are likely to produce several truckloads of dump bound relics and trash. With a dumpster bin, all of your waste material is neatly contained, making the work site safe from potential accidents, cuts, and infections.
A dumpster bin rental is a convenient, efficient, and time saving way to load waste and have it hauled away. You won’t be handling waste twice, nor making multiple trips to the landfill. In addition, a dumpster bin essentially cancels out all of the costs you’d be likely to incur in vehicle and landfill fees while saving half the time and all of the dirty mess.
Another added benefit is the strategic placement of roll off dumpster rentals. Since they slide off the back of a truck they can typically be placed very close to the worksite. Ultimately, that means saving time and effort getting waste material into its bin. Once in the bin, your only remaining task is to contact us. We’ll remove and dispose of it for you.

Dumpster bin rental pricing depends on a variety of factors including bin size, type, length of rental, and total weight of waste material. Additional costs could be incurred for some specific types of waste (e.g. tires or gas-filled appliances, etc.), numerous pick-ups and drop-offs, or delivery outside of our standard service areas.
Typically, dumpster bin rentals vary from $X – $X. Often these costs are quite comparable to the total costs you might incur while transporting and disposing of the waste material yourself, while saving significant amount of time and effort with multiple landfill trips.
For an estimate of what it might cost for your type of project, please use our bin selector tool or price calculator. Of course, the best method is to contact us to discuss your project needs. IWS prides itself in having completely transparent pricing. We’ll be sure to provide guidance on the bin size and type, and length of rental to help keep your costs as low as possible.
-
IWS is completely flexible in terms of its rental agreements.
A “standard” rental might include a one-time delivery and pick-up of the dumpster bin to/from your location, a week’s rental and landfill disposal fees. We will do a consultation with you regarding your project to ensure you have the right bin size, and to help ensure that you rental time is of adequate length for your proposed project. You might be in a situation where a larger, more expensive bin is cheaper in the long run if your project requires multiple pick ups of a smaller bin. Again, our terms are quite flexible, so we can be adaptive to your needs.
Sometimes incremental third-party fees may apply (e.g. landfill disposal fees of special items). We strive to provide completely transparent pricing, so you’re fully aware of what could trigger extra charges beyond the project quote.

The dumpster bin size required depends on the project and the waste material. We have a bin size and type tool to help give you a starting point on what dumpster bin is right for your project.
Obviously the scope, size and type of your project will determine the amount of waste. We provide some guidelines in terms of how much waste material or debris could be produced based on similar projects type. In turn, provide recommendations on size and type of bin you’ll require.
Another important consideration is the the footprint of your site. One of the advantages of roll off bin rentals is how easy it is place them in most locations but that has limitations as well. The dimensions of the bin plus an additional X feet of clearance is required for safe loading and unloading. If the spacing is just too tight, or there are physical obstacles for the size of bin your project requires, we may suggest a smaller bin with more than one delivery and dump. If you anticipate a “tight fit” please make sure you discuss all of these details with us.
Finally, steep gradings and slopes are not possible for safety considerations. We can deliver any size bin in an area with a slope less than X degrees. In most cases, we can offer or find an alternative location that meets proper requirements.

There are a few ways to answer that question: total weight, total volume or a combination of the footprint from specific waste materials. Of course, everything varies but here are some rough guidelines.

IWS offers a variety of bin sizes to suit any of your projects.
For renovation, construction, demolition, household clean-ups or general junk removal we have light to medium duty bins in 14-yard, 16-yard, 30-yard, and 40-yard bins. Please visit dumpster bin sizes for dimensions, capacity and acceptable waste material.
Landscaping or demolition of concrete, asphalt and other aggregates (sand, gravel, etc) require heavy duty industrial bins due to the weight of the waste material. IWS has 10-yard and 11-yard bins for these project types. These bins are smaller because this type of waste typically takes up less volume and due to its density, would be at max gross hauling weight once full.

You can request any length of rental period. Please note that we do have a minimum rental period of X days. The rental period is a key component to the cost of the rental. So be advised that it is in your best economic interest to keep the rental period as short as possible. A standard rental period is typically one week.
If your project is likely to extend beyond the rental period and you’re looking at a yard-full of waste and debris simply contact us and we can extend the rental period.
Once you’ve got the mess cleaned up and project completed, or if you’ve unexpectedly filled the dumpster while the project is still ongoing, give us a call to arrange a pick-up. IWS will pick up the bin, haul to the landfill, and dispose of the the waste on your behalf.
-
We highly recommend that you’re present during the delivery. If that’s not possible, we’ll need detailed instructions on where to place the dumpster bin.
We’ll need at least five feet of clearance on each side of the dumpster (and vertically as well). The terrain your specify will need to be accessible for a truck/dumpster.

IWS is located at 99 Chapman Pl, Kamloops, British Colombia.
We proudly service the entire Thompson Country area, including Kamloops, Merritt, Salmon Arm, and Revelstoke. We can provide rental bins outside of this area but additional costs may apply depending on the distance from our standard service area.

One of the biggest advantages of roll-off dumpster bins is the convenience and versatility of deliveries and pick-ups. Since the bin literally rolls off the back of the truck, we can place it almost anywhere you want.
As long as we have a five foot clearance of the bin, the ground is sloped no more than X degrees and the terrain is accessible for the vehicle weight and conditions, we’ll place it as close to the source of waste material as possible to make for easier and convenient loading.
-
It is extremely unusual for a roll off bin to cause damage to properties, specifically permanent damage.
When dumpster bins are placed on lawns, the weight of the object will obviously cause some temporary grass growth stoppage (as is the case with any heavy object). Once removed, grass growth will return to normal.
Roll off bins almost never cause damage to driveways. For extra protection, we place plywood sheets on the driveway as underlay.
-
Roll off dumpster bins require special equipment to move. Even if you have the equipment to do so, the rental terms prohibit any movement of the bin by the customer for safety reasons.
-
Yes. If you’re doing a joint project with a neighbour or you both have simultaneous projects you can share a dumpster bin rental. We can place the dumpster in a location that works for both parties.
If multiple deliveries and pick-ups are required some additional fees may result. We’ll be sure to address that in our quote, and anything else that might impact your pricing from sharing a bin rental. All other things being equal, it should be very economical if you’re able to share a dumpster bin for your projects.
